Technical Information

Automotive Dry Charged (DC) Lead Acid Battery
Introduction
DC batteries are a type of Batterie which need to add Electrolyte or Distilled water at the time of start of using the new Battery or during the normal use to recharge it frequently. These Batterie are designed for starting automotive engines, not for deep discharge. DC battery contains a mixture with varying concentrations of water and acid. There is a slight difference in density between water and acid and if the battery is allowed to sit idle for long periods of time, the   mixture can separate into distinct layers with the water rising to the top and the acid sinking to the bottom. This results in a difference of acid concentration across the surface of the plates and can lead to greater corrosion of the bottom half of the plates. DC Batterie requires proper installation, use and maintenance to extend their service time.
Configuration
Installation Guidance
  1. Before install or uninstall the battery, turn off the engine and all electrical equipments of the vehicle. To unmount the battery, disconnect the “-” (negative) pole first and then the “+” (positive) pole. While as, to mount the battery, connect the “+” pole with the negative wire of the vehicle first and then the “-” pole with the positive wire. Apply anti-acid grease or Vaseline on the poles and wires to keep the connection firm and clean. Operate carefully to avoid short circuit.

    Warning :
reverse connection may damage the battery as well as other electrical equipments.
Short circuit may melt the poles or cause fire in the worst case.

  2. Remove the vent plugs, take off the inspection seal from the plugs (or penetrate the sealing wax), or remove the seal from the acid-filling plugs.
  3. Add standard electrolyte at the density of 1.28 ±0.005 g/cm3 (25ºC) and tighten the vent plugs (or the filling plugs). Ensure that the liquid level is
  4. above the “lower level” line, or above the protection board (10-20 mm partitions).

  1. Place the battery there for 20-30 minutes before it can be used. It is recommended to give the battery an initial charge when the liquid temperature is below 35ºC. Avoid idling the battery for too long after acid is filled.
  2. Check the liquid level periodically when the battery is in use. If necessary, add distilled water (pure water). If the liquid loses too fast, please check the voltage regulator of the vehicle. Don’t add sulfuric acid or impure water taken from rivers or wells.
  3. Ensure that the vent plugs are not blocked when the battery is stored or filled with acid, to prevent the battery from possible deformation or explosion.
  4. Check and clean the battery holder to avoid racking of the case bottom.
  5. Install the battery upside up. Otherwise the electrolyte may flow out.
  6. Do not install the battery whose case is broken or inflated or where acid leaks.
  7. Do not install the battery with broken positive or negative pole(s)
  8. Ensure that the poles are correctly and firmly connected, and they are not in short circuit by any metal tool or wire.
Usage Guidance
  1. Recharge the battery immediately after it is discharged. Do not leave a power-deficit battery for long without recharge.
  2. Recharge the battery outside the vehicle if its voltage drops, Starting performance worsens, Car lights get dimmer.
  3. Pay special attention to the “+” and “-” signs. Make sure that connection with the recharger is correct. Reverse connection may damage the battery.
  4. The current (in Ampere) for recharge shall be 1/20 of the nominal

capacity (e.g. 3A for N60), and the recharge duration is 3-4 hours. For the second recharge, the current shall be 1/10 of the nominal capacity (e.g. 6A for N60), and the duration is 12-16 hours. Pay attention to the battery temperature. Suspend the recharge process if the temperature exceeds 45ºC and resume only after it drops below 45ºC.
  1. Routinely check the voltage regulator of the vehicle, whose output voltage should be strictly limited within 13.3V-14.4V. Otherwise it will damage the battery.
Maintenance Guidance
  1. Routinely check whether the battery mounting is loosened, whether there is any crack, bump or grease on the battery case, and whether there is acid or rust on the poles.
  2. Before recharging the battery which is unmounted from the vehicle, please turn off all power firstly. Warning: beware of the correct disconnection order from the battery.
  3. Before recharging the battery outside the car, please make sure that “+” and “-” poles are properly connected to the recharger. Reverse connection may greatly
    damage the battery.
  4. The Electrolyte density poured into at the first time and the first charging should be done as given in the instructions card (Installation Guidance).

During the usage, the surface will reduce, please add some water up to the former level. (If the electrolyte flows out, please add some with same density.)
  1. When not using the battery, take it off from the car, and charge it so as to prolong its use life. Batterie should be stored in clean, dry, draught room with 5ºC - 35ºC. Surface of batteries and pole pillar should be kept clean.
  2. Charge the batteries under the following conditions:
The density is less than 1.10.
    The light is faint.
When discharging, voltage is less than 10.8V.
Safety Rules and Cautions
  1. Do not spill the acid which is highly corrosive.
  2. If the acid has splashed onto the skin or clothes, wash immediately with plenty of water (or soap water). If it gets into eyes, wash with water and consult a doctor as
    soon as possible.
  3. Keep the battery out of children’s reach.
  4. The battery will generate flammable gases during recharge process. To avoid explosion, keep it at a well ventilated place and away from heat and fire.
  5. Batterie, when recharged in serial connection, are at a high voltage. To avoid electric shocks, please be careful when you have to touch the wires or connection poles.
  6. The battery should be stored at a dry clean and ventilated place, at the temperature within 5ºC-35ºC and should not be exposed directly to the sun. Tighten the vent plugs before use.

  1. The storage time of the dry-charged battery should not exceed one year. Please recharge the battery before use if it is already in storage for over one year. If the battery is filled with acid, please recharge the battery every other month, and completely recharge and discharge it once every 3 months. Moreover, adjust both the level and the density of the acid.
  2. Warning: Remove the vent plugs before the battery is recharged, to avoid deformation and explosion.
    Disposal of DC Batterie
Do not dispose of scraped batteries, which are reusable, like common household wastes. Improper dismantling may pollute the environment. The battery should be sent to the disposal of a qualified local recycling organization.
